COMMUNITY LIFE

The Sisters of the Resurrection choose to live their commitment to the Risen Christ in a religious community. Each Sister’s faith in the Risen Christ and her personal experience of the power of His Spirit, enable her to live, grow and contribute as a community member.

Called to live together by His grace, each Sister strives to develop her own personhood through communal caring and sharing. A Sister of the Resurrection lives community with a conviction of her own responsibility to enter into a relationship of love with others.

Drawn together by mutual goals and living in common dwellings do not by themselves ensure “community”. True community is founded on and energized by God’s own love in our hearts.  Primarily, it is this love of God which impels us to be His Risen Presence to each other.

True listening, tolerance, forgiveness, acceptance and support are all key words which describe in part the complexities of community life.

True community is, in reality, a decision to love. We choose to share not only our material possessions, but our time, our emotional warmth, our intellectual skills, our spiritual insights and many other talents with each other.

All our efforts towards true communal living are motivated by our love for Christ. We believe that he has willed that we share our unique lives with other women who have also heard the call to live our Resurrection charism.

We look to Mary as our model of all that a woman of faith can do in a world that often ridicules or doubts the love, power and presence of God. Together, as women of hope, as women of the Resurrection, we strive to bring the riches of our own communal life to the global community of God’s people.
